U14 and 16 news
Both our u14 hurlers and u16 footballers unfortunately exited their respective championships at semi final stage over the weekend.
U21 CO. FINAL
It was not to be for our u21 hurlers in their Premier Co Final on Tuesday evening in Innovate Wexford Park. It was a tight tough game with only 2 points separating the sides at half time to St Martins advantage and our lads were still well in the game until midway through the second half when ur opposition scored the goal both sides were seeking. They kicked on from there and we were defeated by 8 points having fought to the end. With12 of the starting 15 underage again next year the future looks promising.
SENIOR FOOTBALL WIN
Well done to our Senior footballers who held on for a 1 point victory in their championship game against Starlights in Innovate Wexford Park on Sunday Aug 7th. Our men with the help of a strong breeze went into the interval 6 points up yet despite two second half goals from Nigel Usher and Craig Doyle, our opposition assisted by the wind chipped away at the score difference and there was widespread relief as the final whistle sounded and Glynn Barntown took the win.
U11 and u12 Hurling
Our u11 & u12 boys were on the road again today with the u11s playing in the Stone Phelan Ballyragget Hurling Tournament. With great hurling skills and commitment they came out with 2 wins against Castletown and Munroe Boher (Limerick) and a tough 1 point defeat by Tullaroan. The boys never gave up!
The u12’s travelled to Abbotstown new GAA National Development centre with 54 other clubs taking part in this u12 hurling blitz, they played 3 games and won 3 defeating Kildalkey, Camross (Laois) and Castletown Geoghegan.
All these boys are proudly representing our club near and far. Well done boys, parents, supporters and mentors. The future is bright! 😎
